This is concerning the upcoming debate in Congress concerning military intervention in Syria.
I am a retired Staff Sergeant from the Mississippi National Guard. I have served once in Bosnia and twice in Iraq.
I was glad to see that Pres. Obama has called on Congress to authorize any military intervention in Syria. It is rightfully a power that lies with Congress in this case.
Having said that, I want to urge you to vote no to any action in Syria. I see no compelling evidence so far that Assad’s regime actually used the chemical weapons and have every reason to believe that the Al-Qaeda rebels could have.
Having been at war with Al-Qaeda since 9/11, I see it as betrayal to support and lend aid to them in any form, be it materials, money, or military intervention on our part.
Also, there are no compelling reasons that I can see that intervening on either side would help our national interests in the slightest.
I sir, am about tired of these middle eastern wars that never seem to end and always end up with us right back where we started.
Please, vote no to Syrian intervention.
